This random little list contains all the places I’ve had a standout coffee, service or experience at. Some of you know, I am very very picky with where I have my coffee. I easily judge places initially by how they look, their branding, their space and then by their coffee because the combination of these things are what make a great coffee shop imo (not that it really matters lol). I’m not saying I won’t go anywhere else. These are essentially my safe picks and inspo for (potentially) a future coffee space 🙂

AUSTRALIA

Brisbane

Supernumerary, Salisbury
I used to frequent this place quite often since it opened. Just the way they dialled their coffee is *chefs kiss*. OG Daddy’s girl espresso and fw with a batch used to hit different.

Wuta Brewer, CBD
This place is considered a little treat for me. Emily and Jonah always have pretty interesting top-shelf coffees to try or buy and it’s something that hurts my wallet every time but it’s worth it. I love these guys passion for coffee and their commitment to stay in competitions. Now they’re selling pretty damn good matcha.

Blue Sky Coffee, Woolloongabba
Blue sky offers sooo many different coffees on bar and retail it’s nuts. Every coffee i’ve had here has so much flavour clarity and Callum really knows his stuff.

Sydney

Only Coffee Project, Crows Nest
My gateway to coffee from all across the world. I met these guys during my comp time in Sydney and probably had the best espresso I’ve ever had (and it was a filter roast lmao). Also one of the only cafes I’ve seen that have experimented with adding minerals after brewing to add more positive notes to the cup.

ONA Sydney, Marrickville
I’ve worked in places that used ONA, but nothing tops the actual flagship store in this case. I tried a Liberica Natural as a fw and it tasted like banana milk from Korea which was crazy!

Melbourne

Bench Coffee Co., Brunswick
One of the only places I have fallen in love with initially because of the aesthetic! Each location is so beautiful and their coffee is all pretty darn good. This is my absolute must go when you go to Melbourne.

279, West Melbourne
Their house blend is absolutely nuts. From memory, it was a blend of a Natural PNG and Natural Anaerobic Brazil coffee – it reminded me of a blueberry pecan pie and cut through the milk so beautifully. They also do super yummy onigiri.

Canberra

BEDST, Canberra
Honourable mention. I have actually never been here, but the coffees they source and bring to Australia (primarily nordic-style) are pretty darn yummy.

SOUTH KOREA

April Coffee, Hannam-dong
Amazing concept store and vibe. Coffee was pretty good considering they do pre-grind everything the day before service.

Deep Blue Lake, Mangwon
Cool store and heaps of different coffee options for milk and filter! One of the better options of specialty coffee in Korea.
